Abstract - CIRED 2007, 19th International Conference on Electricity Distribution

This abstract outlines a novel method for classifying the underlying causes of voltage disturbances using soft-margin Support Vector Machines (SVMs), a method that has significant advantages over conventional methods, such as artificial neural networks.

The experimental results show a high accuracy in classification (>98%).

The abstract was selected for presentation at CIRED 2007 in Vienna, May 21-24, 2007.
